7. Conclusion
The primary objective of this work is to analyze the prevalence, causes, and triggers of violence and aggression against people in need of care within inpatient geriatric facilities. It explores the relationship between nursing staff workload, structural conditions, and incidents of violence, while developing effective prevention and management strategies from operational, private, and regulatory perspectives.
6.1.4 Personnel structures
In order to be able to counteract the effects of violence in inpatient care for the elderly, a company should ensure that it has sufficient staff. The required personnel, i.e., the quota of skilled personnel, is calculated from the number of residents and the corresponding approved care levels. However, it is important to determine the required care levels of the residents. If this has not been applied for, i.e. residents require more care than their care level indicates, the staffing ratio is not correct. More work is being done and performed with clearly too few nursing staff. So this is where the managerial staff, such as the residential area manager or the nursing service manager, comes in.
Once a facility has provided enough staff with the necessary qualifications, the work should be done stress-free and without complications.
1. Introduction: Presents the motivation for the study, highlighting the impact of demographic change and the necessity of protecting both staff and residents from violence.
2. What is violence?: Defines various manifestations of violence, ranging from physical and psychological harm to structural and cultural dimensions.
3. What are aggressions?: Distinguishes between physical, non-verbal, and verbal aggression, emphasizing their intent to injure or destroy.
4. Figures, data, facts – violence against people in need of care: Reviews empirical studies and statistics to illustrate the prevalence of neglect and abuse in geriatric care.
5. Reasons, causes and triggers of violence and aggression towards the person in need of care: Analyzes how structural conditions, overwork, burnout, and hierarchical stress contribute to violent behavior among staff.
6. Prevention and solutions against violence and aggression against people in need of care: Offers a comprehensive overview of management, personal, and regulatory interventions to mitigate violence in nursing facilities.
7. Conclusion: Summarizes the findings and reaffirms the importance of proactive, health-promoting working environments to ensure sustainable quality in elder care.

This work examines the complex issue of violence and aggression within inpatient geriatric care, focusing on why such incidents occur and how they can be prevented.
Key topics include the definition of various forms of violence, the impact of staff shortages and burnout, the role of management in creating a healthy work environment, and the implementation of effective prevention programs.
The goal is to identify triggers for violence against residents, such as excessive workload or lack of training, and to provide actionable strategies to protect both caregivers and those in need of care.
The author conducts a comprehensive literature review, drawing on statistical studies, sociological definitions, and management concepts within the healthcare sector.
The main part covers the classification of violent acts, empirical data on violence in nursing, root causes like structural problems or insufficient income, and detailed prevention strategies from operational and private perspectives.
The work is characterized by terms such as geriatric care, violence prevention, burnout, inpatient facilities, and occupational health.
Burnout leads to exhaustion and emotional detachment, which may cause nurses to become less patient or professional, potentially resulting in negligent care or acts of violence against residents.
Operational strategies include systematic training, staff meetings, supervision, and adjusting personnel structures to reduce pressure, thereby creating a safer and more professional environment.
