This research evaluates the status of social capital and educational outcomes among Senior High School 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) grantees in the West and North Districts of the Mandaue City Division. The primary objective is to investigate how various dimensions of social capital—spanning family, community, and school environments—correlate with the academic performance of these beneficiaries to inform potential policy improvements.
Rationale
Nelson Mandela once said,” Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. Particularly, Education is the key to succeed and an answer to poverty, (Magtagad, 2019). Everything in this world is a process and that includes education. Education is a lifelong process. The main key actors of the so-called lifelong process are the learners and the teachers. The backbone of the successful educational outcome of the learners are the passionate teachers. However, good educational outcomes of students depend on their exerted effort and learner’s resources. Students vary from the individual resources that they have this pertains to social capital.
Social Capital is the sum of the resources, actual or virtual that is accumulated by an individual either by group or by single and in order for individuals to gain such, they must work for it. Social capital theory contends that social relationships are resources that can lead to the development and accumulation of human capital. In evolutionary terms, social capital can be defined as any feature of a social relationship that yields reproductive benefit, (Richard Machalek, Michael W. Martin, 2015). Within education, social capital is the relationships between students, families, communities, and teachers available to support and motivate students toward academic success.
Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS RESEARH DESIGN: This chapter introduces the rationale behind studying social capital’s role in 4Ps beneficiaries' success, outlines the research problems and hypotheses, and details the descriptive survey methodology used.
Chapter 2 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES: This chapter synthesizes previous research and scholarly ideas on social capital, including theories by Bourdieu, Putnam, and Coleman, to frame the current study.
Chapter 3 PRESENTATION, DATA ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION: This chapter provides an empirical analysis of social capital variables (family, community, school) and their significant relationship with the educational outcomes of the grantees.
Chapter 4 SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: This chapter synthesizes the study findings, offers a conclusion on the impact of parent educational attainment, and provides recommendations for government and educational institutions.
Chapter 5 OUTPUT OF THE STUDY: This chapter presents a policy note proposal, including schemes for enhanced modular and online courses tailored to the needs of working parents in the 4Ps program.

The research focuses on assessing the status of social capital and its influence on the educational outcomes of Senior High School students who are beneficiaries of the 4Ps program in the Mandaue City Division.
The study examines social capital through three main lenses: family-related capital, community-related capital, and school-related support.
The primary goal is to establish whether a significant relationship exists between the students' social capital and their academic performance to provide a basis for actionable policy notes.
The researcher utilized a descriptive survey method and employed Pearson-r statistical correlation to measure the association between social capital variables and academic performance indicators.
The main body covers the theoretical background of social capital, the presentation and analysis of survey data regarding family, community, and school support, and an identification of student-reported challenges and barriers.
The work is characterized by its focus on 4Ps grantees, the use of Bourdieu's social capital theory, the context of local school districts in the Philippines, and the intent to influence educational policy.
The findings indicate a significant correlation between parental educational attainment and the average grades of the students, acting as a determinant factor in their educational outcomes.
Key barriers identified include financial limitations, excessive academic project requirements, lack of facilities, and a lack of self-confidence in community participation.
