The study investigates the effectiveness of using e-wallets as a primary payment system for inhabitants of Iloilo City during the challenging conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The research examines five key factors: convenience, security, reliability, responsiveness, and accessibility relative to user satisfaction and performance during the pandemic.
The primary goal is to determine if e-wallets were effective tools for Ilonggo users and to understand how demographic differences and internet quality influence this perception.
The researchers utilized a qualitative research design, conducting a survey with 300 participants. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests like the Mann-Whitney U Test and Kruskal Wallis H Test.
The body covers the theoretical framework (UTAUT), specific research methodology, detailed results regarding user demographics and preferences, and a thorough discussion on how these factors affect e-wallet usage.
Key terms include e-Wallet, Pandemic, Convenience, Contactless Transactions, and Digital Payment adoption among Ilonggo users.
The locale was chosen because the researchers targeted Ilonggo e-wallet users to provide locally relevant insights into how regional demographics and specific internet infrastructure affected the transition to digital payments.
The results indicated that 96% of the participants preferred Gcash, citing its quick adaptation to local needs as the primary reason for its dominance during the pandemic.
The study concludes that the responsiveness and accessibility of e-wallets are heavily dependent on reliable internet service, with PLDT users reporting higher satisfaction levels compared to other sources.
