This research project aims to enhance vehicle security by developing a cost-effective, real-time anti-theft system that utilizes smartphone connectivity, shock sensors, and GSM modules to notify owners during unauthorized access attempts.
1.1 Background of the Study
Technology innovations and inventions have brought benefits to human beings. With the fast advancement of technology in recent years, an increasing number of intelligent technology systems have used computer vision and pattern recognition algorithms. Many common problems, like as vehicle theft, can be resolved by using these technology systems. Vehicle theft, like vehicle hijacking, is a frequent problem currently not only in the Philippines but also internationally. Vehicle hijacking has been an increasingly serious problem over the last and recent decade. The rate of hijackings is higher in locations where a car is financially out of reach but nonetheless a need or status symbol.
According to E.T Exclusivethesis (2021), these days’ hijackers are armed with dangerous and fatal weapon in 90% of the incidents. Typically, there is no need to deploy the weapons because the sheer sight of them causes the ordinary individual to abandon their car. But the weapons aren't just for show; car hijackers aren't scared to use them, and then just 1% of car hijackings result in a fatality. Hijackers see cars and steal it quickly, they can sell it and bring several thousand dollars in minutes or second, hijackers are heartless and ruthless criminals and provoked not by the hurt they cause in other people but by greed for money and the thrill of stealing a car from a total stranger. The rise in car hijacking is complex stemming from a variety of social issues coupled with difficult economic times.
1. Introduction: This chapter defines the problem of vehicle theft and hijacking, establishes the research objectives, and outlines the conceptual framework for the study.
2. Review of Related Literature: Covers prior studies on anti-theft tracking, GSM technologies, and automotive security frameworks that serve as a foundation for this research.
3. Methodology: Describes the technical construction of the device, including the selection of components, research design, and the quantitative approach used to gather data.
4. Results and Discussion: Presents the evaluation findings from surveys conducted with respondents, categorized by functionality, aesthetics, portability, safety, and durability.
5. Summary, Conclusions and Recommendations: Synthesizes the project findings, confirms the effectiveness of the proposed system, and offers suggestions for future improvements.

The research focuses on the development and evaluation of a locally assembled anti-theft system for vehicles using GSM technology to send alerts to the owner.
The central themes include vehicle security, anti-theft innovation, cost-efficiency, and user-centered evaluation of technical prototypes.
The objective is to design, develop, and evaluate the effectiveness of a vehicle security device that sends real-time call and SMS notifications upon detecting an intruder.
The study followed a quantitative research approach, utilizing surveys and checklists distributed to 20 respondents to measure the system's performance.
The main part encompasses the literature review on existing tracking technologies, the step-by-step prototype development, and the analysis of survey findings based on key performance parameters.
The most relevant keywords are Anti-Theft, Vehicles, GSM Module, Arduino, and Vehicle Security.
The Arduino Uno acts as the central control unit that processes inputs from the shock sensor and triggers the GSM module to send alerts.
The system utilizes a shock sensor to detect tampering or physical impact on the vehicle, which triggers the notification protocol when unauthorized activity occurs.
Yes, all parameters—including functionality, aesthetics, portability, cost-effectiveness, safety, and durability—received "Very Good" to "Excellent" ratings from the respondents.
The panel recommended that future research should focus on tailoring or citing the study specifically to a single vehicle or car model.
