Die Kombination von Linearbeschleuniger und MRT bietet eine vielversprechende Alternative zur herkömmlichen Bestrahlungstherapie, die eine verbesserte Genauigkeit und Sicherheit in der Tumorbehandlung gewährleistet. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Vorteile und das Potenzial dieser Technologie zu erforschen und somit einen wertvollen Beitrag zur medizinischen Forschung und Patientenversorgung zu leisten.
Die Strahlentherapie zählt heute neben der Chirurgie und der Chemotherapie zu einer der tragenden Säulen der Onkologie (Lehre von den Geschwulsterkrankungen). Im Laufe einer Krebstherapie erhalten ca. 50 - 60 % aller Patienten eine oder mehrere Strahlenbehandlungen. Bei der Therapie werden die bei der Energieübertragung zwischen ionisierender Strahlung und menschlichem Gewebe entstehenden Wirkung gezielt genutzt, um maligne Tumore, aber auch benigne Tumore zu behandeln. Die zur Therapie benötigte Strahlung wird in verschiedensten Apparaturen, die sich nach der Applikationsform der Strahlung, der Eindringtiefe und der verwendeten Technik zur Strahlungserzeugung unterscheiden, erzeugt. Dazu zählen unter anderem der Linearbeschleuniger und Afterloading in der Brachytherapie.
