Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die Bedeutung der Ironie in der deutschen Erinnerungskultur, insbesondere in Bezug auf den Nationalsozialismus, anhand von Christian Krachts "Faserland" und dem Film "Finsterworld". Aleida Assmanns Definition der Erinnerungskultur dient als theoretische Grundlage. Es wird erörtert, wie unterschiedliche Mentalitäten und Ideen in Ost- und Westdeutschland nach dem Mauerfall zu einer differenzierten geschichtlichen Aufarbeitung geführt haben. Der Fokus liegt auf der Rolle der Ironie in der Literatur und im Film bei der Darstellung der NS-Vergangenheit und ihrer Wirkung auf die Gesellschaft. Ziel ist es, die Funktionen und Auswirkungen der Ironie auf das Verständnis der Geschichte in den untersuchten Werken zu bewerten.
