The report aims to review the global medical tourism industry and evaluate the demand for Indian healthcare institutions, specifically focusing on the services offered to international medical tourists.
The research focuses on the economic drivers of healthcare tourism, the competitive landscape in India, case studies of leading hospitals, and the strategic environment including policy and corporate initiatives.
The core inquiry is to identify the opportunities and challenges for health service providers in India from a global perspective to better cater to the demand for healthcare tourism.
The report utilizes a secondary research method, combining a comprehensive literature review with a qualitative case study approach of five prominent Indian healthcare organizations.
The body covers global demand drivers, an assessment of India's competitive edge, detailed analysis of specific hospital case studies, and a discussion on strategic improvements at policy, corporate, and institutional levels.
The study is characterized by terms such as medical tourism, healthcare infrastructure, international accreditation, patient-centric approaches, and strategic healthcare management.
The report suggests that high costs associated with medical malpractice insurance in developed countries are a primary driver forcing patients to seek more affordable, high-quality medical treatment abroad in countries like India.
State governments, such as those in Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra, actively collaborate with the private healthcare sector to promote specific regional strengths, like Ayurveda or advanced medical cities, to attract foreign patients.
