CHAPTER VI. CONCLUSION
The primary objective of this thesis is to evaluate the perspectives for future tourism development in Algeria, focusing on sustainability. The research examines the significant determinations affecting tourism growth, the country's current resources, and the infrastructure required to support a competitive tourism sector. It explores the interplay between Algeria's geography, history, and socioeconomic environment to provide a roadmap for revitalizing the industry.
2.2.1. Geographical site of Algeria
In the territory of Algeria, two geological regions are distinguished: the platform Sahara, formed in the Precambrian, and the folded Atlas, formed during the Alpine folding. The Sahara desert occupies 80% of the country's territory and consists of individual sandy (Great West Erg, Big East Erg, Erg-Igidi, Erg-Shesh) and stony (Tanezruft, Thingert, Tademaite, El-Eglab) deserts.
As for the natural conditions, they, like in other countries of the Maghreb, are quite capable of developing tourism. The great length of the territory of the country from north to south (almost up to 2000 km) has caused a variety of landscape zones located in different natural belts: from the subtropics of the Southern Mediterranean and the northern slopes of Tell Atlas. Dry subtropics occupying the interior of northern Algeria, the High Plateau to the Sahara Desert, One of the hottest deserts of the world. The Mediterranean coast, stretching from east to west for 1300 km, has good beaches of various widths, gently sloping under the water. This is undoubtedly one of the most attractive areas for foreign tourists.

This research focuses on evaluating the perspectives for tourism development in Algeria, specifically examining how to transform its potential into a sustainable and competitive tourism sector.
The central themes include the analysis of internal and external factors affecting tourism, the evaluation of natural and cultural resources, the state of current tourism infrastructure, and the proposal of a future strategy for development.
The research addresses the question: What kind of potential is available for the development of tourism perspectives in Algeria, and how can it be realized sustainably?
The work utilizes a combination of literature reviews, qualitative data analysis, SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats), and quantitative data gathered through a survey of 132 local people in Algiers.
The main section covers the geographical and geopolitical determinants, an analysis of tourism resources (both natural and cultural), an assessment of the current state of infrastructure and tourism organization, and a survey analysis of local perceptions.
The work is characterized by keywords such as Algeria, Tourism Development, Sustainable Tourism, Sahara, Cultural Heritage, Tourism Infrastructure, and SWOT Analysis.
The author notes that the economy's heavy reliance on oil and gas has led to insufficient government attention and investment in the tourism sector, resulting in stagnation, though this is beginning to change as authorities seek alternative income sources.
The survey provides insight into the attitudes of local residents in Algiers regarding tourism, identifying their support for development and their views on the challenges, such as a lack of facilities and government backing.
The Sahara is highlighted as a significant potential tourism asset, offering unique landscapes and cultural heritage that could attract both national and international tourists if properly developed and managed.
The author concludes that while Algeria has immense potential, the transition to a competitive destination requires a clear, sustained policy, improved infrastructure, investment diversification, and a focus on balancing economic benefits with the protection of the environment.
