The study focuses on analyzing the status of various investment options available in Afghanistan, identifying investment drivers, and examining sectoral potentials to foster economic growth.
The report emphasizes the Agriculture, Mining, Tourism, Infrastructure, and Education sectors as the primary areas offering long-term investment potential.
The core research question revolves around how Afghanistan can effectively utilize private and foreign investments to overcome current economic challenges and ensure long-term, sustainable development.
The author employed a mix of primary and secondary data, utilizing questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents in various commercial Afghan provinces, combined with a comprehensive literature review.
The study identifies insecurity and administrative corruption as the most significant impediments to both domestic and foreign investment in the country.
The private sector is identified as the primary driver of future economic growth, essential for job creation and the mobilization of domestic resources.
The author describes the mining sector as a "virgin" and largely unexplored industry that holds massive potential if supported by large-scale, secure foreign investment.
Tourism is viewed as a high-potential revenue generator that requires minimal initial investment due to the country's existing cultural and historical assets, provided that security is established.
Agriculture remains the primary source of employment and GDP contribution; hence, the report argues that modernizing this sector is vital for national economic stability.
The author strongly recommends that national investors currently active abroad return to invest in their home country, targeting a wider range of provinces rather than focusing on a single region.
