The primary objective of this dissertation is to conduct a systematic literature review to evaluate how blockchain technology can be integrated into the project life cycle to enhance project management efficiency. The research explores current industry practices, potential impacts, and specific blockchain features that can streamline project processes.
5.1.1 Blockchain Integration – Medical & Healthcare:
The first case discusses how the medical and health sector used blockchain technology to modernize and improve their operation. Health and heath sectors have a lot of data on physicians and health professionals. Blockchain technology can help to maintain medical information or only security associated information. In a suggested framework, the blockchain technology specifically used to enforce the information integrity framework. The system can be applied using other technologies but blockchain technology offers solutions that does not need trustworthy third pesons, operates in a decentralized eHealth environment also allows information to be deleted (Tomasz Hyla, 2019).

The research focuses on the integration of blockchain technology within the project life cycle to improve the efficiency, transparency, and reliability of project management practices.
The study highlights applications in the medical and healthcare sector, the construction industry, manufacturing and supply chain management, and the energy sector.
The work addresses three main questions: the typical benefits for project managers, the future potentials of this integration, and which specific features of blockchain can be integrated into existing project management processes.
The author performed a systematic literature review (SLR) by analyzing peer-reviewed journal papers published between 2015 and 2019, ensuring high-quality, relevant data extraction.
The main body covers a comprehensive review of existing literature, a detailed methodology of the systematic study, a keyword-based data analysis of primary articles, and specific conclusions on blockchain integration strategies.
Key terms include blockchain, project management, smart contracts, distributed ledger technology (DLT), supply chain, and data integrity.
Smart contracts can automate and streamline contract approvals, documentation, and payments, thereby reducing administrative overhead and human error in complex construction projects.
The research discusses how blockchain technology could serve as a tool to help developing economies (Global South) break poverty chains and modernize their business infrastructures.
Primary obstacles include the nascent state of the technology, the need for major revisions of existing business processes, and potential resistance to organizational transition.
