This thesis aims to conduct a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the construction of a sanitary landfill in Moulvibazar Municipality, Bangladesh. The study focuses on identifying potential environmental impacts, predicting their significance, and developing mitigation measures to minimize these impacts.
Chapter 1 introduces the background and objectives of the study, highlighting the importance of a sanitary landfill for improving solid waste management in Moulvibazar Municipality. The study's scope, limitations, and methodology are also outlined. Chapter 2 provides a detailed description of the study area and the proposed landfill site, including its geographical location, physical characteristics, and surrounding environment. Chapter 3 presents a comprehensive analysis of the environmental baseline data, encompassing air quality, water quality, noise levels, soil quality, flora and fauna, and socio-economic conditions. Chapter 4 delves into the EIA study, focusing on the identification, prediction, and evaluation of potential environmental impacts associated with the landfill project. Chapter 5 outlines the mitigation measures and the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) designed to minimize environmental impacts. Chapter 6 details the monitoring and evaluation plan for assessing the effectiveness of the mitigation measures and the overall environmental performance of the project.
This thesis explores the critical aspects of Environmental Impact Assessment, sanitary landfill construction, solid waste management, mitigation measures, environmental management plan, monitoring, evaluation, and sustainable development in the context of Moulvibazar Municipality, Bangladesh.
